The morning raga

The todi  raga enfolds a benign oval face
Recollected, with images from rice fields
From where it went to the river of bears
The bears that came nightly from hills
For sugarcane , of a ceremony of death
A banana leaf of rice, a jack fruit's curry
An oval face that laughed in black teeth
A  barber stubble on a two day old face.

The todi now cries death, descent to river
Of bears,as it quickens on a drum of skin.
Quickly the face will clash with end-notes
As raga dies for the next one, for evening.

(Recollections through a todi raga , a morning raga being played )
