Our dwarf God

These were words in Charukesi of a dwarf God
Who stretched end to end in the deepest sky.
We stood breathless as his feet measured

All the three worlds , under a palm umbrella
One foot on our head, his wooden slippers
Making no clicking difference to sweaty silence.

(Vamana the dwarf god measured out the three worlds as three paces of land offered by Mahabali and having finished with the earth and the heaven, placed his foot on the latter’s head, according to Hindu mythology)
